Tips And Tricks For Safe Bondage Play

Tips And Tricks For Safe Bondage Play

More people are discovering the world of BDSM than ever before. The wide range of sexual practices encompassed in this simple acronym (that stands for Bondage Discipline Sadism Masochism) leaves much room for interpretation and unique experiences. And one of the most popular starting points when dipping your toes in this world is bondage.

It may seem odd that people are into being tied up. The common image of such a practice is a person in distress, under duress or being abducted. While not getting too far ahead of ourselves (those scenarios can all be explored in bondage play), the simple act of being bound and unable to move does, in fact, turn many people on. And not just turn them on. Bondage is quickly moving from the sexual fringes to being a mainstream activity.

However, as more people learn the sensual aspects and enjoyment of bondage, they should also be taking the time to understand the complexities of their actions. While it is easy to get into bondage, it is also pretty easy to screw bondage up.

Use the correct implements

Of course, bondage can include a certain level of pain play or it can simply be about being restrained. If you’re going for the latter, you are less likely to encounter problems - especially if you use quality devices to aid your fantasies. The most important thing to watch out for is loss of circulation of the person being bound. Tying rope or attaching cuffs too tight can cause them both short-term and long-term circulatory issues. The best thing to do is seek out padded, comfortable cuffs or soft, cotton or hemp rope. And the worst thing to do is follow the advice of a certain popular erotica series that suggests zip-ties for bondage. Absolutely not! And while they definitely look and feel hot, metal handcuffs should also only be used by experienced players.

If you do want to explore the pain aspects of bondage, using the correct implements for physical tension is as key as exploring psychological tension. For many people, the exciting part of bondage is the struggle against that which restrains you. Your partner will probably be introducing other objects such as floggers or paddles, but you can test your pain limitations by struggling and moving within your binds. But, during this motion, the goal is probably not to introduce skin irritation or lacerations! This isn’t the pain we’re talking about! So, ensure you’ve got good rope or cuffs. But another way to heighten this sensation is using bigger apparatus, such as spreader bars, bed rigs and long tethers. Being able to move around your play space will make the psychological bondage all the hotter!

Have clear communication

All this said, the most important part of bondage is clear communication. Neither you nor your partner should take anything for granted when it comes to the scene you want to act out. Safe words should always be established beforehand and nobody should ever feel coerced into participating in any kind of bondage they are not comfortable with. The point of bondage is experiencing a totally different sensory experience. Being unsure or uncomfortable will take away the potential pleasure of these new sensations.
