Chastity is refraining from participating in sexual intercourse. Over history many different types of people have taken vows of chastity for religious, moral and political reasons. Chastity is most often associated with not having sex until marriage and priests.

Chastity is a complex sexual choice because it isn’t always an actual choice. Many religions preach chastity to deliver sinners from the temptations and evils of sex. On the other hand, Aldous Huxley famously wrote "Chastity: the most unnatural sexual perversion".
