For some people, Valentine’s Day is all about the romance. The wooing, the fancy dinner, the deep, heartfelt conversations. For other’s the big day of red hearts is more about deep expression of feelings that takes place with a strong sexual connection. Neither is right and neither is wrong! Fortunately, Valentine’s Day is a celebration of all things love and more and more, our world is understanding that love comes in many different forms and expressions. The only key ingredient is that you and your partner are on the same page. If not, we’ll that’s a different post.
Fortunately, despite that seemingly divisive intro, this post actually combines that best of both of these ideas. For some of us, the more traditional notions of Valentine’s Day fits very nicely with the more carnal celebrations. So, after you’ve had a lovely meal and maybe a bit of wine, but want to move to the next phase of the night, here are some of the best positions to celebrate love and connection on Valentine’s Day.
You can never go wrong with a classic! Missionary position (penetrating partner on top) is the de facto sex position for many. It has also gained a reputation as being bland and boring. But that’s only if you’re not doing it right! Missionary can be both dirty and loving, all at the same time! The best part of Missionary is that however you like to do it, you and your partner can maintain eye contact and possibly even lip contact throughout the whole experience. Take it slow and easy or make it rough and fast, through any variation, you can maintain that significant connection.
Spooning is, arguably, the most caring of sexual positions. Just imagine laying together, under a blanket to keep warm. The partner behind wraps their arm around their lover’s shoulders or belly or hips. While the sexy shenanigans start with other parts of the body, that arm is key. Spooning is an emotional experience for both partners. The person being held enjoys the comfort of being cuddled and wrapped by the other’s body. On the other hand, the partner who is behind can enjoy that sensation of being the provider, the comforter. They get to caress and feel the other’s body. Another great thing about Spooning for Valentine’s Day is that if you have, perhaps, had too big a dinner or a little too much wine, not a huge amount of motion is needed for everybody to feel fantastic.
Standing, Facing sex is one that not everybody can do, but if you can, it just might be one of the most sexy and intense experiences ever. Be sure to find a good, sturdy wall to lean against, and preferably, something with some handles as well. Standing, Facing sex can be very awkward, and I wouldn’t blame you if you thought it isn’t worth the trouble. However, here’s the key to why Standing, Facing sex just might be the most romantic and connecting sex position of all: it combines the eye and lip contact of missionary with the comforting aspects of spooning. But the best part of all: there’s a good chance both of your hearts will be as close to each other’s as humanly possible. You might even feel them beating as the excitement builds.
That’s Valentine’s Day!
