Inclusivity Is Sexy! Gender Neutral Sex Toys

The world of sex intersects with so many different parts of our lives that it is sometimes hard to keep track of them all. Most often we hear how sex is intertwined with social issues, entertainment, technology and, of course, relationships. These topics might get more press and social media time than others, but there are other very important conversations that need to and continue to be had involving sex.

Note the use of the conversation. How much we talk about sex in all contexts in vital to growing a strong, sex positive culture that embraces everybody and gives everybody the opportunity to live their best sexual lives. Surely, frequency of conversation does help, but there is another key to bringing everyone to the sexual table: how we speak about sexuality.

Evolving language

Here at Cherry Banana, we have always wanted to offer valued customers the best possible products in an inviting, friendly environment. We picked colours and presentation that are appealing and fun. We want your shopping experience to be as satisfying as your sexual experience. Okay, no, we don’t image that to true, but we do hope you have a good time here on Cherry Banana.

One way we try to ensure that is by constantly learning from the world and how it is changing and hearing our customers needs. Through these we have now learned a new way to speak and present sex and sexuality to help our friend achieve greater personal sexual agency.

Introducing a new section on Cherry Banana: Gender Neutral Sex Toys.

It is so easy to fall into the box of binary gender language. It is too easy to separate sex toys and products into For Her and For Him. But in doing so, getting caught in that same social construction that says there are only two genders. And that’s not what we believe. We think the candy jar of humanity is filled with many more flavours than just two. And we want to make sure anyone and everyone have the opportunity to shop and explore in a way that speaks to their own true self.

Pulling it together

Curating our list of Gender Neutral offerings required a different mindset than the sex product industry generally adheres to. Instead of categorizing toys by what part on the body they are used for, we chose to divy them up by function and capability. We also gathered together products that are not specifically gendered in appearance. The goal was to give you items that fit with your preferences and gender and, sometimes, some products are just too gendered one way or the other—when they don’t really need to be.

We are grateful to be with you as you explore your sexual pleasure. We consider it an honour! And in this relationship, we know that we have work to do. We need to make sure you feel comfortable and represented. Not feeling represented is one of the worst feelings a person can have, particularly when it comes to sex. If you feel shut out, you won’t feel open to exploring, you won’t want to find pleasure. So we opened our minds and our language.
