What Are The Dangers In Not Having Sex?

Have you ever heard someone exclaim “I’m just going to die if I don’t have sex soon!” Well, don’t believe them. Especially if that person happens to be a man. It ain’t happening. No matter how hard someone tries to convince you, they aren’t going to expire from a lack of erotic exercise.

That said, we’re not saying that there aren’t some potentially negative health inconveniences if you aren’t having some sort of sex on the regular. We are aware that sexual activity does provide numerous physical and psychological benefits to our bodies. Sex, it makes ya feel good! So it is only natural to assume that taking that away, depending on the person, will have some deleterious side effects as well.

Let’s drop a little note in here. While it is possible that any of the effects here might happen if you aren’t engaging in sexual activity, by no means are we saying they will happen if you stop the sexytimes. Those who are asexual and celibate or who just haven’t been interested for some time are not going to suddenly start suffering because you read something on the internet. They’re fine, leave them bed. Especially if you are their mom.

One more thought: please make not of the distinction between sex and sexual activity. More often than not, when someone says ‘sex’ they mean some kind of intercourse and they often mean heterosexual, penis-in-vagina shenanigans. Of course that isn’t the only way to have sex! We’re talking, oral, anal, handjobs, fetish and BDSM and, without a doubt, masturbation as different ways to have sex. If you’re doing it and you feel good and any other people who are involved are consenting and happy, then you’re getting your sexual activity in!

Psychological risks

Now, these health risks. They can be considered both psychological and physical. When it comes to your brain, sex releases some powerful hormones that greatly impact mood. Both depression and stress can be helped when your body releases dopamine. Masturbation is an amazing way to deal with both stress and depression. It doesn’t involve anyone else and is a pleasurable experience solely focussed on you. At the same time, if you are suffering from either of these concerns, please do seek professional help.

Physical risks

As for physical ailments, sex can definitely be a preventative measure to, hopefully, ward off inconvenient conditions in the future. The opportunity to use sex as a type of shield is definitely intriguing.

For women, the concerns of dry vaginal walls and more difficult menstrual cycles will definitely be up to the individual involved. For some, increasing sex might help, but for others it could just be wishful thinking.

For the preventative measures affecting men, both the ideas of sex preventing prostate cancer and erectile dysfunction are, as yet, fully proven. There are some findings that do support the theory that cleaning the pipes of the prostate through frequent ejaculation can eliminate toxins, but the studies are still ongoing. As for erectile dysfunction, this idea has more traction and makes sense. Exercise the penis and it stays stronger.

Remember folks, the best way to deal with any of these issues is to consult your doctor. And hey, if they prescribe sex, all the better!
